Conditioning of the H reflex by stimulation of the posterior tibial nerve in Parkinson's disease.

چکیده
The excitability curve of the H reflex conditioned by stimulation of a mixed nerve was studied in eight Parkinsonism patients, before and after L-dopa therapy. There was no significant variation between the two curves. However, there was a reduction of the normal early inhibition of the H reflex conditioned by exteroceptive stimulation. This indicates the presence of alterations in the organisation of the reflex pathways at a spinal level in this disease.

Posterior Tibial Nerve Stimulation in Fecal Incontinence: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis
Purpose: The present systematic review and meta-analysis aims to investigate the role of posterior tibial nerve stimulation (PTNS) in the control of fecal incontinence (FI). Methods: Two independent reviewers extensively searched in the electronic databases of Medline, Embase, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL), Web of Science, CINAHL, and Scopus for the studies published...
متن کاملA comparative study on soleus H reflex parameters using vertebral column and peripheral nerve stimulation
Although low-threshold transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) is a modality used for control of pain, but its effect in the control of spasticity and change of excitability of a motor neuron is controversial. Therefore, this study was conducted to evaluate the effects of 15-min tripolar TENS of vertebral column and bipolar TENS of common peroneal nerve (300 µs width, 50 Hz) on synap...
متن کاملOperant conditioning of H-reflex in freely moving rats.
1. Primates can increase or decrease the spinal stretch reflex and its electrical analogue, the H-reflex (HR), in response to an operant conditioning task. This conditioning changes the spinal cord itself and thereby provides an experimental model for defining the processes and substrates of a learned change in behavior. Because the phenomenon has been demonstrated only in primates, its general...
متن کاملSensorimotor cortex ablation prevents H-reflex up-conditioning and causes a paradoxical response to down-conditioning in rats.
Operant conditioning of the H-reflex, a simple model for skill acquisition, requires the corticospinal tract (CST) and does not require other major descending pathways. To further explore its mechanisms, we assessed the effects of ablating contralateral sensorimotor cortex (cSMC). In 22 Sprague-Dawley rats, the hindlimb area of left cSMC was ablated. EMG electrodes were implanted in the right s...

Background and Aim: Spinal manipulation is a treatment modality in the management of patients with pain in the neck, low back or pelvic disorders. The objective of this research was to determine the effects of sacroiliac joint manipulation on selected electrophysiological parameters including pressure pain thresholds (PPT) and Tibial nerve Hoffmann's reflex (H-reflex) amplitude. Materials and M...
